Dr. Cheryl and Robert Schmitt are licensed Chiropractors serving the Mount Vernon community.

Dr. Cheryl L. Schmitt started her chiropractic education as a child when she received her first chiropractic adjustment at the age of four. She has continued to receive chiropractic care as her primary source of care for the last 30 years. Dr. Schmitt graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, the oldest and most prestigious Chiropractic college in the   United States. At Palmer College, she completed five years of training in Chiropractic and also received her Bachelor of Science degree. Before Palmer College, Dr. Schmitt attended the University of Manitoba for pre-medical studies.

Dr. Schmitt has practiced Chiropractic as a student and a doctor in Montana, Iowa , Washington and internationally in Hungary . In 2003, Dr. Schmitt earned her Pediatric Certificate of Proficiency and became Webster Technique Certified. She is currently a Distinguished Research Contributor for the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and continues her studies in Pediatrics and Pregnancy Chiropractic care. Dr. Schmitt is an outspoken advocate for natural, drug-free birth and life, and lectures to empower women on their birth choices. She also lectures on causes of birth trauma and chiropractic's role in restoring and maintaining a healthier life for both mother and child.

Dr. Schmitt currently practices in a family and wellness based office in Washington State. She is co-owner and chiropractor of Vital Chiropractic, PLLC with her husband Robert J. Schmitt, D.C. They have two boys, born at home, under chiropractic care and living a drug-free life.

My name is Dr. Robert Schmitt and I am also a chiropractor at Vital Chiropractic Center. I concentrated on athletics for much of my "younger" years. I pole vaulted in college, broke my back, was introduced to chiropractic care and voila! I am now a chiropractor.  I also water skied professionally as a knee-boarder on the Bud Water Ski Tour. I give credit to good chiropractic care for giving me the competitive edge plus keeping me injury and surgery free!

I currently spend my "free" time with my two boys and coaching pole-vault with the local high schools. I have been coaching at Burlington-Edison and Mount Vernon Christian high schools for 10 years and enjoy helping the kids. And, thanks to chiropractic, I still pole vault every spring and summer!

I enjoy taking care of families and all those who are pursuing a healthier life. I particulary love those complicated cases and helping athletes reach peak performance through chiropractic care. 

In fall 2011, Dr. Robert Schmitt was appointed, by Governor Christine Gregoire, to the Washington State Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission.

People who are subluxated add to the world's problems. They are not functioning and living at their full potential. We were born to be healthy, happy and vital. There is an inner intelligence and energy inside all of us that keeps us healthy, happy and vital. If this inner intelligence and energy is allowed to express itself we are healthy, happy and vital. If interferences are present our health and human potential are diminished. By removing interferences in the spine this inner intelligence and energy is unleashed and the body moves toward health and vitality.
